OUR STORY
When my father-in-law arrived in New York over 30 years ago, all he had was a young family to support, $5 in his pocket and a dream. A concert pianist by profession, he did the only thing he knew how in order to make ends meet and put food on the table. He started piano repair and tuning. First for neighbors and acquaintances, then for local concert halls and organizations. He was just an anonymous piano tuner in New York City trying to make a living. Over the years his roster grew, customers kept coming back and recommending him to friends and family. Today his dream has become a reality. This company is well known and well regarded in the tri-state-area. We are lucky to work with talented technicians, who have joined us in spreading our love of music. And I hope to continue his legacy by providing the same exceptional level of piano service NY that has gotten him this far.
FAQs
The cost of piano tuning can vary depending on the type and condition of your instrument, the last time it has been tuned and/or maintained, your location, group rates and other considerations. Depending on the experience level of your piano tuner NYC prices can range from $125 – $250.
There are a multitude of issues your instrument may encounter and a wide range of repairs it may require. It may just need a small adjustment and take 10 minutes to fix. Or it may need a series of procedures performed over multiple visits. Whatever the case, we will give you all the information and estimates upfront. The decision always rests with you and we will assist you to the best of our ability, no matter what choice you make.
Under normal circumstances it should take no more than an hour.
We have piano technicians in New York and New Jersey and we strive to be there for our clients as soon as we are needed. That being said, the calendar does fill up quickly, especially during certain times of the year (like the holidays). It is always a good idea to schedule your regular tuning in advance. However, if you have an emergency, give us a call. We will do our best to help.
It is best practice to tune your instrument every 6 months. For instruments that are heavily used, such as practice pianos in studios and musical schools, it is recommended to tune more frequently, about once a month.
Yes! Don’t despair just yet. Sometimes all that is required for a poorly maintained instrument is a double or triple tuning. The first tuning (or two) is to correct the piano’s pitch (in case it sounds too low or too high after being exposed to heat, humidity or air conditioning). The final tuning is the actual tuning. However it’s also possible that some repairs may be necessary. Give us a call, and we’ll let you know for sure.
